Bigfooted whiskey drinker

Bigfooted whiskey drinker
Suburbia

Staggered into the house is what I apparently did when I arrived home on Saturday evening - I'd been at a barbeque with family and friends, and it was one of those pretty rare occasions that I'd allowed myself alcohol. Jameson's whiskey, one of my absolute favourites. I shouldn't expect alcohol to mix well with my Parky's meds and in any case I drink so infrequently these days my resistance is pretty pathetic anyhow. So my inebriated state was only to be expected.

Thinking back to the staggering part, I was at least comfortable thanks to my new Skechers shoes which felt more comfortable than any new pair of shoes had any right to be! Skechers had been recommended as a help to me especially in view of my recent ankle/Achilles injury and if the maiden voyage is anything to go by, they're going to be a winner.

Another lesson learned was the extent to which the dexterity in my right (Parky's) hand has become. Tying my shoelaces has become not impossible, but tricky and it's normal now for me to need 3 or 4 attempts. I don't mind admitting that I find this problem frustrating going on annoying, especially if someone else is waiting for me to complete this previously simple task.

When Lynne and I were in the Skechers shop on Friday, I showed Lynne how to shop! I rarely go clothes shopping but when I do, I always seem to manage to do it lightning fast. Maybe it's a man thing? No messing around, get in there and out again in 5 minutes. Anyone else relate to this?

As is normal in the shop, it was a pair of size 7s on display. I'm normally 11 or 12 so I had to ask the assistant to get those sizes from the back of the shop. She came back in a couple of minutes and handed me the size 11s and suddenly my dexterity seemed to disappear. Although they were not lace-ups, they still felt extremely tricky to line-up and put on my foot. As I fumbled around with the new shoe for what felt like an ice age the kind young lady assistant very patiently offered to help and got me started. It got a bit easier after that.

Three 'takeaways'...

  1. Not all young people are insensitive idiots as many are portrayed often these days. There was no impatience, no huffing and puffing, just quiet and gentle, patient help in the light of my obvious self-consciousness.
  2. Yet another thing is on my difficult to do list due to Parky's. Not just laces as I'd already been learning recently but shoes overall are becoming an irritating issue.
  3. Skechers are ace! Absolutely love them, so comfortable. They have my loyalty already. Maybe my staggering on Saturday would have been much worse if not for my Skechers!
